    Elementary Extended Learning Teacher

    Position Purpose

    Extended learning teacher  will provide direct intervention and progress monitoring for students who need support in reading. The extended learning teacher will implement and support students and staff in Skill Gap Recovery. The interventionist will be responsible for assisting with the development of a systematic school-wide approach to MTSS.  Activities may include coordinating classroom intervention programs, providing curriculum and instructional support to teachers including effective intervention strategies, and implementing specialized services to meet the needs of each and every student. This position reports to school leadership.

    This is a federally funded position.

    Essential Functions
    • Coordinate and facilitate the implementation of academic and social-emotional interventions for students in need of support towards meeting course standards.
    • Uses data to identify students for Tier 2 or 3 intervention support.
    • Delivers research-based strategies and techniques to support students individually or in small groups.
    • Assist teachers and instructional staff in addressing student learning using the MTSS framework; provide guidance on strategies, tools, and techniques to effectively teach all students.
    • Develop, document, and maintain ongoing intervention plans in the intervention management system.
    • Maintains progress monitoring data on how students are responding to intervention plans to make adjustments as needed.
    • Communicate with families regarding student progress and provide strategies families can use at home.
    Additional Duties
    Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

    Equipment
    Use standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

    Travel Requirements
    Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

    Work Schedule
    Standard teacher work schedule. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
    • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles.
    • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
    • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents

    Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
    Work in standard office and school building environments.                
         

    Qualifications Profile
    Certification/License:
    • Wyoming State Certification  approved through PTSB as an Elementary Teacher and/or reading endorsement.
    Education
    Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.

    Experience
    Successful prior teaching experience preferred.
     
    FLSA Status:       Exempt
