High School District 214 is seeking a visionary and equity-driven leader to serve as the Director of Curriculum and Equitable Practices. This critical district-level position provides leadership in designing, aligning, and improving curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices to meet Illinois Learning Standards. Equally essential, this leader advances the district’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and access by developing and monitoring initiatives that disrupt systemic inequities and foster inclusive learning environments for all students.
The Director serves as a key member of the Teaching and Learning team and collaborates with school and district leadership to ensure educational excellence and equity are realized across all schools, programs, and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with school and district leaders to embed equity in instructional practices, decision-making, and policies.
Partner with Student Services to support site-based diversity and inclusion efforts, including affinity spaces for students and staff.
Develop strategies, recommend policies, and monitor progress toward eliminating opportunity and achievement gaps for historically marginalized student groups.
Work with instructional teams to ensure curriculum is aligned with Illinois Learning Standards.
Lead district teams in evaluating and selecting instructional materials that reflect diverse perspectives and promote inclusivity.
Analyze student data—including assessments, attendance, disciplinary trends, and special education indicators—to drive equitable outcomes and instructional improvement.
Stay current with research in pedagogy and curriculum to inform district practices and strategic planning.
Consult with schools on improvement planning and instructional implementation.
Provide operational oversight of the District Early College program and partnerships with Harper College, including:
Dual credit and articulated credit programs
Harper Promise Scholarship
Student scheduling and transportation logistics
Lead the management of course delivery platforms for credit recovery.
Direct the implementation of ISBE’s College and Career Pathways Endorsements, including:
Monitor and support program budgets in collaboration with schools and central office departments.
Provide leadership for the District Talent Development Program, supporting enrichment and advanced learning opportunities.
Oversee the planning and execution of District Summer School programs.
Collaborate with district leaders to coordinate professional learning that advances both instructional effectiveness and equity-focused practices.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent for Teaching and Learning.
Qualifications
Presently holds a State of Illinois Professional Educator License with a General Administrator Endorsement or a Principal Endorsement.
Proven leadership experience in curriculum development and/or equity-focused educational initiatives.
Deep understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy, educational equity, and systems-level reform.
Strong knowledge of instructional design, curriculum alignment, and assessment practices.
Demonstrated success in building collaborative partnerships and leading professional development.
Exceptional communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Experience working with diverse student populations; bilingual/bicultural candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Competitive Compensation:
- Length of contract: Full Year Assignment
- Salary Range: Administrative Salary Grade Two - $148,168-$185,210 (to be adjusted for 2025-2026)
