What You’ll Do:
 
• Monitor and address attendance concerns, working with students, families, and staff to find solutions.
• Partner with the School Resource Officer and campus safety teams to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Support and guide staff by conducting observations, coaching, and offering leadership in behavior interventions.
• Supervise and lead the Campus Safety team, ensuring professional development and effective scheduling.
• Supervises and evaluates Attendance Assistants.
• Be a visible, positive presence in hallways, common areas, and school events.
• Serve as a key resource for student discipline, working to implement fair and effective interventions.
• Assists in supervising evening and weekend school-related events, specifically all home football games and dances.
• Facilitate reentry meetings and serve as a leader in student support initiatives.
• Supervises and evaluates Attendance Assistants.
• Serves as a facilitator for the Solution Finding Team.
• Champion equity and inclusion, ensuring all policies and practices reflect our commitment to student success.

• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with General Administrative Endorsement
• Strong understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions (PBIS) & Response to Intervention (RTI)
• Knowledge of attendance and behavior procedures under Illinois State School Code

Naval Science Instructor - Wheeling High School
 
Job Summary:
 
The primary responsibility of the Naval Science Instructor (NSI) is to provide instruction to students in the naval science curriculum and assist in the administration and management of the District NJROTC program.  The NSI will be responsible for teaching both day and evening classes as well as supervising some field trips and other activities outside the school day.
 
Qualifications:
 
• Must meet Navy NJROTC service requirements, and served in the U.S. Navy, Coast Guard or Marine Corps.
• Must be certified by NSTC to administer the NJROTC program and to teach the Naval Science curriculum as a Naval Science Instructor.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.
• Must be able to work effectively with other staff and the school and district administration.
• Must have good interpersonal skills.
• Must project a positive image of the district to staff, students, parents and the community.
• Must exhibit a positive attitude.
• Experience in supervising, instructing and/or working with high school students desired.
   
 
Position Expectations:
 
• Provides instruction to students in the naval science curriculum.
• In collaboration with the building administration and Navy, plans and coordinates both on and off campus activities designed to educate the students about various aspects of citizenship, leadership and the Navy.
• Supervises NJROTC programs and activities assigned by the SNSI.
• Assists in the annual budget development process for the NJROTC program.
• Assist in the administration and management of the NJROTC program.
• Communicate with other building staff and coordinate efforts to assure the success of the NJROTC students in all their classroom and building activities and endeavors.

Position Summary:
The School Psychologist will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students.  This position involves conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, providing counseling and crisis intervention, developing and implementing intervention plans, and collaborating with teachers, administrators, and parents to create a supportive learning environment.  

Key Responsibilities:
 
• Special Education Support:
  • Assist in completing the Special Education domain and eligibility process.
  • Serve as the Local Education Agency (LEA) representative at Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings.
  • Conduct diagnostic psychological testing and write comprehensive social-developmental histories.
  • Develop and write measurable IEP goals and provide direct counseling services to students.
• Intervention and Counseling:
  • Assist teams in developing and implementing effective Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for both General Education and Special Education students.
  • Write initial 504 Plans and provide ongoing case management.
  • Provide intervention assistance to students, families, and staff, addressing academic, social, and emotional needs.
  • Implement evidence-based group counseling curriculum.
  • Provide classroom-based interventions/presentations in collaboration with teachers.
• Collaboration and Consultation:
  • Provide consultation services to the Student Services team, teachers, and administrators.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Students to create and implement intervention plans.
  • Lead an intervention team comprising counselors, case managers, and administrators.
• Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist in coordinating post-secondary transition support for students.
  • Serve as the building Homeless Liaison, in conjunction with the Associate Principal for Student Services (APSS).
  • Follow directives of the Special Education Division Head and the Associate Principal for Student Services.
Qualifications:
• Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with School Psychologist endorsement.
• Master's, Educational Specialist, or Doctorate degree in School Psychology.
• Strong background in psychological testing and measurement.
• Demonstrated experience in counseling and crisis intervention.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with parents, students, and staff.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with special education requirements.
• Knowledge of current special education laws and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with a diverse student population.
• Experience in a high school setting.
• Language skills in Spanish or Polish are strongly preferred.

POSITION:  Athletic and Student Programs Assistant (WHS)    40 hrs/wk. Effective July 1, 2025

SALARY:  Grade 3, Step 1, $24.78        Salary schedule is listed in the ESPA agreement linked here.  

ASSIGNMENT:   12 Month
 
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:  This position has a wide variety of duties related to athletics.  There is considerable contact with staff, coaches, IHSA officials, media, students, parents, photographers, sales representatives and booster clubs which requires maintaining a positive relationship and constant communication with all involved.

An employee in this position works within clearly established systems and procedures, must exhibit organizational skills and exercise independent judgment and confidentiality in the performance of duties.  Must exhibit initiative and embrace a collaborative team approach to accomplish the mission of the district.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have physical ability to lift/move supplies, materials, and office equipment up to 40 lbs.
• Must sit at workstation for extended periods of time and/or move frequently from workstation to various other areas of building.
• Must organize and prioritize workflow.
• Must be proficient in the use of computers, office practices, procedures and office equipment.
• Must project a positive image of the district to students, staff and the general public as well as exhibit a positive employee attitude.
• Must demonstrate appropriate interpersonal skills, and communicate clearly and respectfully with students, staff, parents, visitors and the general public.
• Must have awareness of a variety of student needs, including physical and social emotional needs.
• Must assemble and organize and prepare reports from records.
POSITION EXPECTATIONS:

1. Providing assistance to the athletic and activity programs by, but not limited to:

     a. assisting the AD with major events
     b. registering students for athletic teams, ensure compliance and eligibility of student athletes
     c. creating requisitions and paying purchase orders
     d. coordinating weekly, monthly, and/or daily reports using various systems
     e. ordering, maintaining, and organizing transportation for all athletic teams, student activities, and occasional field trips
     f.  entering and maintaining rosters and schedules in information systems
     g. maintaining student athletic records and coach information
     h. sending game and officials' contracts for all athletic contests and confirming officials for all athletic events, as needed
     i.  preparing information and reports for IHSA
     j.  communicating sports schedules, changes and other sports information to staff, media, booster clubs, officials, competing schools and other schools
     k. requesting and/or collecting fees
     l.  assisting in the sale of athletic event tickets, as necessary
     m.supporting the AD in coordinating and executing the Summer Athletic Program
     n. performing other administrative duties related to the department

2. Participating in appropriate professional development activities in order to enhance job performance.

3. Cultivating and developing inclusive and equitable working relationships with staff, students and community members.
