PORTRAIT OF A GRADUATE
INTERNAL ASSESSMENT COHORT
K-ALGEBRA 2 MATH PERFORMANCE TASKS
Position Overview:
We are seeking passionate and dedicated teachers in specific teaching assignments to take on a one-year project for work associated with the Portrait of a Graduate implementation. Participants will work collaboratively to explore and evaluate different assessment approaches to measure critical thinking of students, contributing to innovative practices across our schools.
Cohort Goals and Structure: - Initial In-Person Meeting: Engage in a kickoff meeting to learn more about each critical thinking assessment approach and determine criteria for evaluating the assessment approaches.
- Monthly Virtual Meetings: Participate in regular virtual check-ins to provide updates on each approach, review student examples, and reflect on the assessment approaches.
- Recommendations: Make informed recommendations on whether to continue, refine, or expand each assessment approach for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Roles and Responsibilities: - Make recommendations in one of the following areas:
- Grades K-8 Social Studies Inquiry Units
- Grades K-Algebra 2 Math Performance Tasks
- Grades 3-8 Gifted and Talented Rubrics
- Grades 9-10 IB Critical Thinking Alignment
- Grades 9-12 Future Ready Virtual Academy Student Portfolios
- Grades 9-12 AP Courses or Early College Courses
Participants: - Participate regularly in cohort meetings, engaging in open discussions and collaborative problem-solving.
- Collect anonymized student work samples/artifacts from your own classroom.
- Share assessment examples, anonymized student artifacts, and reflections to support recommendations for improvements in assessment approaches across the district.
Qualifications: - Classroom teacher assigned to one of cohort areas listed above.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and improving critical thinking assessment practices.
COMPENSATION: - Stipend per NFT contract (Portrait of a Graduate-$800)
- 1-year assignment
- Maximum of 14 hours annually
- Reports to Cohort Leaders
- February 2025 - June 2025
