KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
• Master’s Degree or relevant experience in technology administration focusing on AI and digital learning.
• CT Administrator Certification (092).
• CT Teaching Certification as a Library Media Specialist or in a similar technology-focused role.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
• Advanced degree in Instructional Technology or a related field with a focus on AI.
• Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and technology implementation in education.

The Special Education Teacher of the Hearing Impaired will provide IEP mandated instruction to students in a highly structured and supported classroom environment.  The Special Education Teacher must have the ability to develop and implement instructional and behavioral management strategies for special needs students.  The teacher must also have an understanding of development and implementation of individualized education plans, an ability to administer and interpret a variety of academic and related assessment instruments pertaining to special education.  Communication with other colleagues from various disciplines and with parents are essential to student success.  Applicants for the position of special education shall be considered on the basis of qualifications.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
 
The teacher of the hearing impaired will:
• Participate in planning and placement team meetings for all hearing impaired students
• Develop and maintain IEP for all hearing impaired students
• Read and interpret audiograms and technical reports on hearing loss for educational purposes
• Evaluate students and write progress reports for all hearing impaired students as directed by their IEP
• Provide technical consultation to staff and parents with regard to hearing impaired students
• Provide information to school staff as to the strengths and needs of students and help develop accommodations and modifications
• Coordinate and direct services of sign language interpreters and instructional assistants as needed
• Recommend appropriate amplification systems and other assistive technology for deaf and hearing impaired students
• Ensure the functioning of students' amplification systems
• Keep current with laws and regulations regarding deaf and hearing impaired students
• Keep current with best teaching practice for deaf and hearing impaired students

The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide IEP-mandated speech services to eligible students.  In addition, (s)he will evaluate referred students, write related reports and share evaluation findings at PPT meetings.  The SLP will consult with school staff on an as-needed basis.

We are seeking passionate and dedicated teachers in secondary teaching assignments to take on a one-year project for work associated with the Grading for Equity implementation. • Initial Two-Day In-Person Meetings (8 am to 2 pm): Engage in a kickoff meeting to learn more about the System Change Partnerships with Crescendo Education Group and the multi-pronged support to improve grading throughout our district, leading to more accurate and fair assessment and evaluation, and improved student achievement.
• Two In-Person and Two-Virtual Workshops (half-day time TBD): Interactive overview of the importance and urgency of equitable grading, history of traditional grading and its impact on teaching and learning, the 3 pillars of grading, and pathways toward more equitable grading.
• Coaching Sessions: Teachers will select a preferred meeting day and time; sessions will occur virtually and are half an hour in length.
• Action Research:  Teachers will be equipped to implement improved grading practices through a series of intensive workshops, individual coaching, and action research cycles to measure the impact of equitable grading in their classrooms and share results with colleagues
