2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR FOOD SERVICE WORKER NORWALK HIGH SCHOOL
DEFINITION
Those persons on the school kitchen staff who perform such tasks as food preparation, and/or delivering, and/or serving, and/or housekeeping, and/or cashiering, and/or records procedure. The Food Service Worker and Assistant to the driver are directly responsible to the school food service Cook-Manager, and/or Assistant Manager, and secondly to the Food Services Director, Assistant Director, or Designee.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Receiving deliveries, storage of deliveries, truck preparation, loading, delivering, restocking, meal preparation, set up lines, cashier, enter money into student accounts, reconcile register drawer at the end of each day, prints and reconciles daily paperwork (E.g. daily lunch counts, two weekly deposit drops to the Central Kitchen, attending to student needs and requests, serving of food to students and teachers according to specifications by the supervising agents).
- Maintains sanitary and health standards in the following:
- Food Handling.
- Cleaning of all kitchen areas.
- Cleaning, washing and care of all utensils and kitchen equipment.
- Maintains inventory, production records and monthly paperwork and any procedures as required by superior officers.
- Monthly paperwork delivered to the Central kitchen at the end of each month.
- Available for meetings when required.
- Assists and completes any duties as required and/or assigned.
- Those duties may require traveling to another location daily.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum qualifications
- Manual dexterity, ability to carry out written or oral instructions.
- Education and Experience
- High school education required. Must be able to read and write. Previous experience preferred but not required. In-service training advised.
- Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 30 pounds.
- An examination by a qualified medical doctor.
- Freedom from communicable disease.
- Suitable physical stature, with vitality
- Mentally alert, self-controlled, tactful, trustworthy, and high moral character, free of any police record.
- Must submit, upon request, recommendations of past employments.
- Neat and clean in appearance.
- Other Qualifications
- Computer skills required.
- Ability to cooperate with other employees as a team.
- Must show willingness to observe all safety precautions.
- Must show willingness to operate all cooking and preparation equipment.
- Must have enthusiasm and understanding for School Nutrition Programs and reflect this enthusiasm by working and cooperating with their superiors, students, faculty, parents and all interested groups and organizations.
Days: Monday – Friday (5 hours daily)
Salary: $16.87 / hour
Bargaining Unit: UPSEU - FSW
Work year: 10 Months/40 weeks
