Position: Summer Primetime Coordinator
Locations: Cooper Elementary School and Oaklawn Elementary School?
Program Dates and Hours:
- June 2-20, 2025 (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM) at Cooper Elementary?
- July 7-25, 2025 (Monday-Thursday, 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM) at Oaklawn Elementary?
Compensation: $20.30 per hour ?
Overview: Derby Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and organized individual to serve as the Summer Primetime Coordinator for our programs at Cooper and Oaklawn Elementary Schools. This role is pivotal in ensuring a safe, engaging, and educational environment for students during the summer months.?
Key Responsibilities:
- Staffing: Recruit and hire certified teachers for academic sessions.
- Facility Coordination: Collaborate with the principals of Cooper and Oaklawn Elementary Schools to determine available classrooms and ensure appropriate spaces are allocated for the program.?
- Program Planning: Work closely with the Program Director of the Oaklawn Activity Center (OAC), to coordinate afternoon activities, including crafts, recreation, and field trips.?
- Student Services: Oversee daily operations, including discipline management, adherence to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior plans, and provide support akin to that of a social worker.?
- Meal Coordination: Ensure compliance with Kansas State Department of Education (KSDE) food service guidelines by collaborating with the Summer Food Service Coordinator, to oversee breakfast and lunch services provided at no charge to students.?
- Logistics: Allocate time before the program starts to hire staff, plan activities, prepare materials, and manage the transportation of equipment between Cooper and Oaklawn Elementary Schools as needed.?
Additional Information: The previous Coordinator will be available in June to provide guidance, assist with scheduling, and share relevant resources to ensure a smooth transition and successful program implementation.?
