    The Horizon School Division office is located approximately 100 km east of Saskatoon in the thriving community of Humboldt, SK. The Division serves approximately 6,400 students located in 32 communities. This progressive Board is known for its strong support for small schools, effective professional development, high teacher engagement, innovative approaches, and sound fiscal management. The school division is located on Treaty 6 and Treaty 4 territory, and is comprised of 43 schools including partnerships with seven First Nation Authorities. The Divison runs the first provincially operated school in Canada located on George Gordon First Nation. 

    The Opportunity
    Horizon School Division is currently accepting applications for a Permanent Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Coordinator of Learning. Reporting to the Superintendent of Learning, the position will provide leadership in supporting the Superintendent of Learning and school-based administrators with the implementation of effective assessment and instructional practices, as well as support for complying with board policies, administrative procedures, and division guidelines. This position will commence the first day of the 2025-2026 school year.

    You have the experience and desire to be part of a highly effective team whose primary focus is to support learning.  You are passionate and informed about highly effective instruction, assessment, and intervention practices to meet the learning needs of all students. You are detail orientated; yet you can also see the big picture and how multiple elements of school life fit together. Your positive attitude is infectious and you recognize your own strengths and have an ability to help others see and leverage theirs.

    The Coordinator of Learning's leadership/support will become part of an ongoing professional development process through which school leaders, classroom teachers and school teams deepen their understanding of high quality, instruction, and assessment practices to meet the learning needs of all students.

     Qualifications:
    • Saskatchewan Professional ‘A’ Teaching Certificate
    • Completion of Graduate studies in a field relevant to assessment, curriculum and/or school leadership;
    • Extensive school-based leadership experience with a focus on assessment and instruction;
    • Extensive knowledge of highly effective instruction, assessment and intervention practices at various grade levels (literacy, numeracy);
    • Extensive practical technology skills;
    • Knowledge and belief in formative and summative assessment;
    • Knowledge of and experience in facilitating in a collaborative adult learning environment;
    • The ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with school-based and division office leaders in the school division.
    Responsibilities:
    • Coordinate, plan, and facilitate professional learning opportunities for in-school administrators and teachers that promote assessment and learning;
    • Monitor areas of responsibility and make recommendations to the Superintendent of Learning regarding continuous improvement;
    • Provide exemplary and timely support of assessment and learning practices to in-school administrators and teachers;
    • Seek opportunities for personal and professional development;
    • Work in collaboration with school teams to enhance, plan and support instruction and assessment practices;
    • Assist the Superintendent of Learning with data gathering and analysis;
    • To support the collaborative work of Horizon School Division’s learning team under the leadership of the Superintendent of Learning;
    • Perform other duties as may be required to meet organizational needs and outcomes.
