    Job Title:        Application Support Specialist I
    260 day position, full-time, year round
     
    Working collaboratively with the Information Systems Team, Kent ISD programs, and local districts, the Application Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance for the student management system (currently PowerSchool) and other Kent ISD supported applications. This position involves troubleshooting and resolving software and system-related issues, assisting user’s navigation and implementation of applications, and escalating complex problems to the appropriate team member. This position will interact with teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth functioning and optimal utilization of Kent ISD supported applications. 
     
    Minimum Job Qualifications:
    1. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in a computer technology related field or an equivalent of three years of experience supporting an enterprise application.
    2. Previous experience in providing technical support with student management systems (PowerSchool preferred) in an ISD or school district setting.
    3. Demonstrate understanding of modern web-based applications and relational data systems.
    4. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve software-related issues. 
    5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
    6. Patience, empathy, and customer-oriented approach when dealing with stakeholders. 
    7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple support tickets, while maintaining attention to detail.
    8. Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team with minimal direction.
    9. Experience with programming and/or scripting preferred.
    10. Knowledge of educational processes, such as attendance tracking, gradebook management, and student scheduling, is preferred. 
    11. Demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, social justice and inclusion in all practices and position responsibilities. Demonstrates the ability to examine the impact of educational inequities in student achievement outcomes as it aligns with race, ethnicity, and socio-economic status.
    12. Certifications in PowerSchool, or similar application, preferred. 
    Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
    1. Provide technical support for Kent ISD and local school district student management system users via multiple channels (phone, email, virtual). 
    2. Troubleshoot and resolve software-related issues.
    3. Guide stakeholders through common processes within the student management system, such as attendance tracking, gradebook management, and report generation. 
    4. Stay up to date with application system updates, new features, and enhancements to provide accurate information and support to users. 
    5. Creates instructional materials and documentation to support the effective use of the student management system.
    6. Facilitate user training sessions, webinars, and create instructional materials to improve users' understanding and proficiency with the student management system.
    7. Compile and organize data, generate extracts, and coordinate tools to export data. 
    8. Understand and maintain the security of student record data in accordance with FERPA and board policy.
    9. Assist in the testing and implementation of new application functionalities, updates, and patches.
    10. Contribute to the continuous improvement of support processes by identifying common issues, suggesting system enhancements, and participating in knowledge sharing activities.
    11. Responsible for working collaboratively to accomplish state reporting requirements.
    12. Participate in continuous education/professional development, user groups and other activities to increase application knowledge related to student records management, state reporting requirements, and database integration.
    13. Support Kent ISD and Local Districts with the usage of a school wide messaging system. (Bright Arrow, School Messenger, etc.).
    14. Support Kent ISD programs by managing the online enrollment system.
    15. Be available outside of normal work hours for emergency support and application updates.
    16. Regular, reliable, and punctual attendance required.

    Salary: Non Union Professional salary schedule, Grade 2; $57,044-$58,184
