Job Details: A Personal Attendant is assigned to work one-on-one with a student(s) to meet the needs of their IEP. Student(s) and/or building(s) assignment may change at any time based on the changing needs of student(s).
Workdays: Monday - Friday; 6.75 work hours per day (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch period); 189 workdays per school year; start and end time varies based upon assigned position and school building (number of work days for the 2024/25 school year will be pro-rated to date-of-hire)
Rate-of-Pay for 2024/25 School Year: $15.70 per hour (PLUS $1.00/hr for BA degree OR $2.00/hr total for MA degree) -- see *Hourly Rate Stipend below
*Hourly Rate Stipend: Per OAPSE 120 / LCSD Negotiated Agreement, there is additional language regarding pay rate for Personal Attendant, as follows:
"A personal attendant qualifies for an increase in their hourly rate of pay, to the corresponding rate of a paraprofessional [$16.75 per hour], provided that the personal attendant passes the paraprofessional test and the personal attendant agrees to waive his/her right to bid out of the personal attendant position for a period of two (2) full school years after receiving the higher rate of pay. In the event of an absence of the personal attendant's assigned student, a personal attendant who receives the higher pay rate shall be required to perform paraprofessional work in the event that such work is needed to be performed, within their assigned building."

- -- life insurance – a term life insurance policy for $30,000 (district covers cost)
- -- supplemental and/or dependent life insurance – eligible to elect additional, supplemental life insurance or dependent life insurance (cost varies per coverage-level elected)
- -- enrollment into the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
Required Qualifications: - -- Educational Aide Permit: must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio State Board of Education (SBOE) - cost of $25 paid for by the employee each school year
Additional Employment Requirements: - all school employees must be able to successfully pass a BCI and FBI criminal background check (prior to employment; cost of $47.25 paid for by the employee)
- all school employees must be able to successfully pass a drug test (prior to employment; district covers cost)
