Job Details:  A Paraprofessional works with classroom teacher(s) to assist students both inside and outside of the classroom.  They may work with individual student(s) and with small or large groups of students.

Required Qualifications:
1. Certification:  all paraprofessionals must be a highly-qualified paraprofessional under the provisions of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) by evidencing one of the following requirements:
   1. Associate of Arts Degree or higher (official transcripts required); OR
   2. two (2) years of college totaling forty-eight (48) or more semester hours (official transcripts required); OR
   3. passing score of 456 or higher on the ParaPro Assessment (copy of results required)

Additional information about the ParaPro Assessment:  The Educational Testing Service (ETS) administers the ParaPro Assessment, which is the state assessment for paraprofessionals in Ohio and has portability across school districts. The State Board of Education approved a passing score of 456 for the ParaPro Assessment. The ParaPro Assessment is computer-based and available across Ohio at selected Praxis test centers. The paper and pencil version of the test is no longer available. 2. Educational Aide Permit:  must have or be able to obtain an Educational Aid Permit through the Ohio State Board of Educatoin (SBOE) - cost of $25 paid for by the employee each school year

Job Details:  A Personal Attendant is assigned to work one-on-one with a student(s) to meet the needs of their IEP.  Student(s) and/or building(s) assignment may change at any time based on the changing needs of student(s).

  *Hourly Rate Stipend: Per OAPSE 120 / LCSD Negotiated Agreement, there is additional language regarding pay rate for Personal Attendant, as follows: 
 
"A personal attendant qualifies for an increase in their hourly rate of pay, to the corresponding rate of a paraprofessional [$16.75 per hour], provided that the personal attendant passes the paraprofessional test and the personal attendant agrees to waive his/her right to bid out of the personal attendant position for a period of two (2) full school years after receiving the higher rate of pay.  In the event of an absence of the personal attendant's assigned student, a personal attendant who receives the higher pay rate shall be required to perform paraprofessional work in the event that such work is needed to be performed, within their assigned building."
