    This position starts as soon as possible.  We have several positions to fill.


    POSITION TITLE:  Playground/Cafeteria Monitor 
    Position Type:  Part Time
    REPORTS TO:   Elementary Administrative Assistant & Elementary School Asst. Principal
    Pay Range: This is a part time position at a starting hourly wage of: $15.50.
    • This position will have shifts during morning arrival of our students when school is in session.
    • This position will have shifts during lunch hours when school is in session. 
    Summary/Objective
    This position provides assistance and supervision for children during morning arrival, lunch and/or assigned recesses to ensure a
    positive and safe environment . 
     
    Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Knowledge and Abilities 
    • Monitor the playground area during the morning arrival of students.
    • Monitor the cafeteria, playground and/or other common areas utilized over the morning play and mealtime periods (including classrooms and the gym when utilized for indoor recess).
    • Circulate throughout the cafeteria during mealtime. Help students by opening packages, milk cartons and heating upfood in the microwave. Clean up spills and provide additional assistance as needed.
    • Assist staff in lunchroom clean-up.
    • Assess playground environment for organization, cleanliness, security and equipment condition. Make improvements as needed and sweep sidewalk for gravel and other debris. Limited snow removal (broom, shovel)
    • Report disciplinary and other concerns to Administration and/or classroom Teacher.
    • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
    • Evaluate student injuries and determine course of action.
    • Attend work regularly and be punctual adhering to the Attendance Policy.
    • Dress appropriately for working with children and weather conditions.
     
    Education and Related Work Experience
    • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred
    • No experience required
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
    Other Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents and members of the community
    • Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions
     
    Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
    • Criminal background check required for hire

    Physical Requirements
    • Must be physically able to work outside throughout the school year
    • Regularly required to speak and hear
    • Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms
    • Occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch
    • Occasionally climb stairs and use a broom or shovel to remove snow
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision
    Working Conditions
    • The Playground Monitors could be exposed to weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow and other outdoor weather conditions.
    • PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) may be required according to current health guidelines  i.e. Mask and/or gloves.  PPE will be made available to the monitors.
    • Use and exposure to cleaning products to clean surfaces as required by current health guidelines.
    • Appropriate shoes are needed for the playground environment and gravel in the play area examples:  closed toe, tennis shoes or boots.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
    Benefits 
    Retirement in the Public Employees Retirement Association (P.E.R.A.).  We comply with all State Law regarding Accrued Paid Sick Leave (Colorado Senate Bill 20-205).  This position is not eligible for health, dental and vision insurance .
