University Schools is in its 129th year of existence.  After a 108 year association with the University of Northern Colorado, University Schools opened as a public charter school, at its current location, in the fall of 2002.  In the fall of 2013, a new middle school building was added.  University Schools is K-12 and enrolls nearly 1,800 students.  University Schools continues to be an integral component of UNC's teacher education mission.  University Schools' faculty and staff innovate and model effective student-centered teaching and learning.   

     Our School
University Schools has two buildings on one campus:  an Elementary/High School located at 6525 W. 18th Street and a Middle School located at 1717 65th Avenue, Greeley, Colorado. Greeley is fifty miles east of the front range of the Rocky Mountains.  Greeley is an agricultural community with light industry and a major Colorado university.  The city has a population of 103,900 while Weld County has a population of 269,785.

Summary/Objective
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of a teacher by providing assistance and supervision for children when the classroom teacher is unable to teach.  Assignment may be at any level (Elementary, Middle or High School) for a varying length of time and may include other duties as needed.  The work takes a versatile person to adapt to one grade level or subject one day to another. University Schools considers Substitute Teachers very important to our school and are recognized as an essential part of the education process.


Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements
• Dress professionally, setting a good example for the students. 
• Review the classroom teacher’s daily schedule, lesson plan book, seating charts, textbooks, and other materials. 
• Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned. 
• Teach the lessons outlined and described by the absent teacher. 
• Consult with the level principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified by the absent teacher. If playground or other duties are assigned to the regular teacher, the substitute teacher is expected to fulfill that responsibility. 
• Check the attendance procedures of your assigned classroom. 
• Become familiar with the building, especially the fire escape routes.
• Be available to cover a class or assist as needed if there is a planning period. Also, please be aware that substitute teaching assignments may change if other needs arise in the building. 
• All substitute teachers should refrain from expressing personal opinions and reactions about various subjects (i.e., religion, politics, etc.). 
• When serving on an assignment, the substitute must remember that substituting is a position of public trust. Confidential information concerning individual students must not be discussed. 
• Remain at school until the school day has ended, regardless of whether there is a class during the last period. Ask an administrator where assistance is needed. 
• Substitute teacher will refrain from using personal cell phones or tablets during classroom hours. 
• No personal work of any kind will be permitted while on duty.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class as assigned.
• If assigned, grades all papers done that day and records the results on the graded papers, or by means instructed by the school administration and/or teacher. records absences in the manner instructed.
• Upon completion of the assignment, the substitute teacher is required to return keys and other materials, complete the substitute time sheet and request signature from the appropriate personnel.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• The ability to report to the school office following the scheduled time of substitution.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.

• Must have a 1 Year Substitute Authorization from CDE

• PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) may be required according to current health guidelines i.e. Mask and/or gloves.  PPE will be made available.
• Use and exposure to cleaning products to clean surfaces as required by current health guidelines.
• Appropriate shoes are needed for the playground environment and gravel in the play area examples:  closed toe, tennis shoes or boots.
• The work environment combines standard office setting including some standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.)
• The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
Benefits 
Employee is allowed sick leave per state law and school policy.  Retirement in the Public Employees Retirement Association (P.E.R.A.).  No other benefits are contemplated for this position.

 Summary/Objective
 
The Assistant Volleyball Coaching position in the Athletic Department at University Schools will be a varsity assistant and JV or C-Team assistant coach. This position’s salary is set based on experience/qualifications and the cocurricular stipend pay schedule as approved by the Board of Governors. No benefits are available for this position.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Organization and development of volleyball program in collaboration with the Athletic Department.
• Development and implementation of daily practices.
• Scouting of upcoming opponents and implementation of game plan.
• Being a positive role model for all of the student-athletes at the school.
• Know and understand CHSAA rules and regulations.
• Complete administrative elements necessary for advancement of the program.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of current physical education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to health education.

About our School
For over 100 years the school operated as the UNC Laboratory School on the campus of the University of Northern Colorado.  In 2001, the school became an independent K-12 charter school in Weld County District 6 and changed its name to University Schools.  In August of 2002, the school moved to a new facility and has a population of 1,700 students.

Summary/Objective
Under the general supervision of the School Principal and Assistant Principal, to develop students' physical skills and abilities, strength, agility, poise, coordination, and teamwork; to develop students' understanding of the importance of exercise to physical and mental well-being; and to motivate students to work towards, physical fitness, hygiene, and good health.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities 
• Develop and administer Physical Education classes consistent with University Schools mission and vision.
• Teach knowledge of, and develops skills and abilities in, physical fitness, rhythm and dance, coordination and agility, exercise, and sports.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to student learning.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials to maximize learning experiences in available time for instruction.
• Assist in coordinating extra-curricular activities, including athletic events.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs.
• Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of University Schools.
• Coordinate with other professional staff members, especially within physical education department, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
• Select and acquire appropriate instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.
• Inspect equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order.
• Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Serve as an advisor for elementary students in accordance with University Elementary School programs and expectations.
• Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and University Schools policies. 
• Coordinate with staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participate in faculty meetings and committees.
• Supervise students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation.
• Administer standardized tests in accordance with District/State/University Schools testing programs.
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of current physical education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to health education.
• Knowledge of physiology, health and nutrition, biology and biological functions, anatomy, hygiene, exercise, and best ways to promote physical and mental well-being.
 
Education and Related Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
• Hold or be eligible for a Colorado teaching license.

Summary/Objective
Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with the school nurse for providing health care/first aid, medication and/or assistance with medical procedures to students within scope of practice. Maintain and compile student health records, files, and database and health related reports and documents.

Summary/Objective
Under the general supervision of the High School Principal and Assistant Principal, the Teacher’s objective is to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing University Schools approved curriculum; document teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; address specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and to provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Develop and administers high school curriculum consistent with University Schools goals and objectives.
• Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
• Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Serve as an advisor for high school students in accordance with University High School programs and expectations with the primary responsibility to guide their adviser's personal and academic achievement as well as direct the student-led parent conferences.
• Experience teaching Algebra I, and Geometry.
Education and Related Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Master's degree in Math PREFERRED
• Hold or be eligible for a Colorado teaching license.
• Prefer teacher to demonstrate the following experience:
  • Successful secondary school teaching experience
  • interest and skill in the development of innovative approaches to teaching and interdisciplinary education

Summary/Objective
To enable each child to pursue his/her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of a teacher by providing assistance and supervision for children when the classroom teacher is unable to teach.  Assignment may be at any level (Elementary, Middle or High School) for a varying length of time and may include other duties as needed.  The work takes a versatile person to adapt to one grade level or subject one day to another. University Schools considers Substitute Teachers very important to our school and are recognized as an essential part of the education process.
 
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Requirements
• Dress professionally, setting a good example for the students. 
• Review the classroom teacher's daily schedule, lesson plan book, seating charts, textbooks, and other materials. 
• Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he/she is assigned. 
• Teach the lessons outlined and described by the absent teacher. 
• Consult with the level principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified by the absent teacher. If playground or other duties are assigned to the regular teacher, the substitute teacher is expected to fulfill that responsibility. 
• Check the attendance procedures of your assigned classroom. 
• Become familiar with the building, especially the fire escape routes.
• Be available to cover a class or assist as needed if there is a planning period. Also, please be aware that substitute teaching assignments may change if other needs arise in the building. 
• All substitute teachers should refrain from expressing personal opinions and reactions about various subjects (i.e., religion, politics, etc.). 
• When serving on an assignment, the substitute must remember that substituting is a position of public trust. Confidential information concerning individual students must not be discussed. 
• Remain at school until the school day has ended, regardless of whether there is a class during the last period. Ask an administrator where assistance is needed. 
• Substitute teacher will refrain from using personal cell phones or tablets during classroom hours. 
• No personal work of any kind will be permitted while on duty.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class as assigned. 
 
• If assigned, grades all papers done that day and records the results on the graded papers, or by means instructed by the school administration and/or teacher.
• Records absences in the manner instructed.
• Upon completion of the assignment, the substitute teacher is required to return keys and other materials, complete the substitute time sheet and request signature from the appropriate personnel.
 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiates instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
• The ability to report to the school office following the scheduled time of substitution.

• Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by University Schools procedures and applicable state laws.

POSITION TITLE:  Playground/Cafeteria Monitor 
Position Type:  Part Time
REPORTS TO:   Elementary Administrative Assistant & Elementary School Asst. Principal
Pay Range: This is a part time position at a starting hourly wage of: $15.50.
• This position will have shifts during morning arrival of our students when school is in session.
• This position will have shifts during lunch hours when school is in session. 
Summary/Objective
This position provides assistance and supervision for children during morning arrival, lunch and/or assigned recesses to ensure a
positive and safe environment . 
 
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, Knowledge and Abilities 
• Monitor the playground area during the morning arrival of students.
• Monitor the cafeteria, playground and/or other common areas utilized over the morning play and mealtime periods (including classrooms and the gym when utilized for indoor recess).
• Circulate throughout the cafeteria during mealtime. Help students by opening packages, milk cartons and heating upfood in the microwave. Clean up spills and provide additional assistance as needed.
• Assist staff in lunchroom clean-up.
• Assess playground environment for organization, cleanliness, security and equipment condition. Make improvements as needed and sweep sidewalk for gravel and other debris. Limited snow removal (broom, shovel)
• Report disciplinary and other concerns to Administration and/or classroom Teacher.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
• Evaluate student injuries and determine course of action.
• Attend work regularly and be punctual adhering to the Attendance Policy.
• Dress appropriately for working with children and weather conditions.
 
Education and Related Work Experience
• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) preferred
• No experience required
• Must be a minimum of 18 years old
Other Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to appropriately communicate with students, teachers, parents and members of the community
• Ability to exercise good judgment and work in an environment with constant interruptions
 
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
• Criminal background check required for hire

Working Conditions
• The Playground Monitors could be exposed to weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, snow and other outdoor weather conditions.
• PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) may be required according to current health guidelines  i.e. Mask and/or gloves.  PPE will be made available to the monitors.
• Use and exposure to cleaning products to clean surfaces as required by current health guidelines.
• Appropriate shoes are needed for the playground environment and gravel in the play area examples:  closed toe, tennis shoes or boots.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
