    Position Type:  Part Time - .5 FTE; Full Time - 1.0 FTE
    Pay Range: Hourly starting at $17.45/hour - $29.66/hour

    Benefits 
    Retirement in the Public Employees Retirement Association (P.E.R.A.).  We comply with all State Law regarding Accrued Paid Sick Leave (Colorado Senate Bill 20-205).  This position is not eligible for health, dental and vision insurance . 

    Summary/Objective
    Responsible for coordinating and collaborating with the school nurse for providing health care/first aid, medication and/or assistance with medical procedures to students within scope of practice. Maintain and compile student health records, files, and database and health related reports and documents.
     
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities
    • A friendly and caring person who loves working with children and supporting their well-being.

    • Ability to handle sensitive health information with confidentiality.
    • Excellent communication skills and a team player attitude.
    • Prior experience in a health-related field is a plus, but we are happy to train the right candidate!
    • Evaluate and attend to students/staff visiting the health office; provide comfort care and/or first aid.
    • Administer medications, adhering to School and State procedures, and perform delegated medical procedures.
    • Contact parents as needed.
    • Accurately enter data into the computerized health office log to document student visits to the health office.
    • Coordinate student health needs between teacher, nurse, and parents .
    • Maintain the health office cleanliness per local and state requirements, and take inventory and order health office supplies and equipment as needed.
    • Prepare medications for field trips for administration by other Delegated UAPs.
    • Assist in maintaining health records, coordinating screenings, and providing health services to students as needed in elementary schools.
    • Attend required training classes and school health meetings. Complete online professional development training as required.
    • Flexibility to provide coverage for field trips and/or other health office needs.
    • Ability to be flexible with daily hours that may vary according to activities and needs.
    • Assist in setting up and notifying parents of immunization clinics when needed.
    • Assist with student vision and hearing screenings.
    • Dress professionally, setting a good example for the students. 
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
     Knowledge and Abilities 
    • Knowledge of basic medical equipment such as thermometer, glucometer and pulse oximeter.
    • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions, use time efficiently, and respond to management direction
     
    • Ability to demonstrate attention to detail and maintain fidelity and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to participate and work in a team environment, including regular presence in both health offices and providing coverage as needed
    • Maintains confidentiality of all information concerning students, staff, and parents in any public setting and chooses the appropriate time, place for discussion of problems.
    • Ability and willingness to adhere to attendance requirements, including regular and punctual employee presence
    • Ability to Support all University Schools policies, procedures, and expectations. 
    • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
    • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator

    Education, Qualification and Related Work Experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • One year of related experience
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable
    Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
    • Successful completion of the Colorado Medication Administration Training for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (if not currently certified, successful completion must be completed before any contact with student population per state law)
    • Complete and maintain Delegation of Nursing Tasks to UAP with supervising RN
    • Successful completion and maintaining of First Aid/CPR certification
    • CART Training yearly
    • OSHA, Universal Precaution and other general employee certification as designated by supervising RN
    • Criminal background check required for hire

    • Implements Board Policy regarding Blood Borne Pathogens and other Board policies regarding the medical or health care of employees and students.

    Physical Requirements
    • Vision: (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.

    • Upper Body Mobility: use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower head.
    • Strength: to lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch.
    • Mental Requirements: read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgment and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records.
    Working Conditions
    • Works in standard office and school building environments.
    • Exposure to body secretions, blood borne pathogens, medicine and medicinal supplies, illnesses and diseases.
    • May be exposed to poor weather conditions including heat, cold, wet and snow and other outdoor weather conditions.
    • The work environment combines standard office settings including some standard office equipment (time clock, fax, copier, phone, computer, 10-key, etc.) 
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate, but occasionally high depending upon student population and activities.
