Qualifications:
• Valid state teacher license preferred

Job Goal: To carry out the aims and objectives of the VEX V5 Robot Challenge program as outlined by the school administration, the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, and the TechPoint Foundation for Youth (when applicable).
 
Job Description: 
1. To instruct student members in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and practice necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
2. Help students learn the iterative process and apply mathematical thinking, scientific thinking, and creative thinking processes to solve problems. 
3. Provide instruction that will lead to formation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Expectations: 
4. Maintain high standards as a teacher while advocating the skills, mission, and objectives of the District. 
5. Promote sportsmanship, be understanding and fair, and put integrity ahead of winning. 
6. Effectively communicate with players, teachers, media, administrators, parents, and other groups within the community. 
7. Demonstrate necessary organizational leadership skills.
8. Facilitate the practices necessary in order for the team to experience a level of success. 
9. Facilitate the organization of the competition for the team (register with REC, hold team tryouts and practice, order team shirts, sign-up for competition, organize transportation to the event, provide a celebration, collect permission slips, etc.) 
10. Other duties assigned by the principal.

Title: VARSITY GIRLS VIKETTES COACH
         VALPARAISO HIGH SCHOOL

General Job Description:
The VHS Head Varsity Vikettes Coach is responsible for establishing and cultivating a consistently high-caliber dance/pom program at Valparaiso High School. This coach builds essential relationships with administrators, colleagues, coaches, community members, parents, and student-athletes to create a successful dance/pom culture throughout the community.  This coach is equally adept at skills and drills for dancer development as well as   team success.  The VHS Head Varsity Vikette Coach maintains a program-centric approach that enables dancers to continually develop and grow.  In all, this coach teaches important life lessons and develops young women’s character through the context of dance.

Qualifications:              
• Extensive coaching experience in dance
• An advanced understanding of the skills and concepts that are fundamental to teaching dance/poms.
• Flexibility, organization, and a admirable work ethic
• A vibrant personality that is well suited to work with teenage girls
• Excellent instructional skills and techniques
• Solid conflict resolution and communication skills
• Valid (state) teacher license is preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Expectations:
• Maintain high standards as a teacher, both in the classroom and on the dance floor, while advocating the skills, mission and objectives of the District and Athletic Department.
• Promote sportsmanship, be understanding and fair, and put integrity at the forefront of the program.
• Highly effective at communicating with dancers, parents, teachers, media, administrators and other groups within the community.
 
• Collaborate with other head coaches to promote well-rounded student athletes; includes Head Strength & Conditioning Coach as well as other sport coaches
• Demonstrate outstanding organizational and leadership skills
• Help ensure productive and positive dance/poml experiences at the youth and middle school levels through collaboration with community members and middle school programs
• Solid understanding of communication methods that that help connect the dance/pom program to the local community (i.e. social media)
• Have experienced past success in coaching dance/pom in a quality program, and have a strong background in coaching as evidenced by level of position and expertise in coaching
• Strive to make community connections with your team (i.e. participate in Popcorn Festival Parade, Homecoming Parade, community service initiatives, etc.)
• Other duties assigned by the Athletic Director or Building Principal
 Responsibilities: 
• Organizing and executing daily practices as well as attending daily practices.
• Coaching games and organizing managers.
• Organizing equipment and completing the equipment inventory at the end of the season.
• Implement basic and advanced skills, concepts, and terminology related to dance/poms.
• Provide ongoing feedback to the  JV coaches to continually improve and enhance your coaching staff.
• Participate in high school program team activities and initiate team fundraising projects.
• Supervision of athletes at and after practice at VHS.
• Complete all necessary NFHS coaching classes before working with VHS athletes.
• Assist with concession supervisions, attending coaches meetings, organizing/attending parent meetings and organizing/attending award events.
Responsible To:    Director of Athletics and Building Principal
 
Stipend:          As stated in the current Valparaiso Community Schools ECA portion of the Teaching Contract.

• At the same time, the student shall receive instruction that will lead to the formation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self discipline and self confidence.
 
Expectations:
 
• Maintain high standards as a teacher, both in the classroom and on the wrestling mat, while advocating the skills, mission and objectives of the District.

• Promote sportsmanship, be understanding and fair, and put integrity ahead of winning.

• Effectively communicate with players, parents, teachers, media, administrators and other groups within the community.

•  Work in collaboration with other head coaches to promote multi-sport student athletes.

• Demonstrate necessary organizational and leadership skills

• Have experienced past success in coaching wrestling in a quality program, and have a strong background in coaching as evidenced by level of position and expertise in coaching

• Strive to make community connections with your team (i.e. participate in Popcorn Festival Parade, Homecoming Parade, community service initiatives, etc.)

• Other duties assigned by the athletic director. 
 
Responsibilities: 
 
• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach with organizing and running daily practices as well as attending daily practices.

• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach with coaching games and organizing managers.

• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach with organizing equipment and completing the equipment inventory at the end of the season.

• Implement offenses, defenses, basic skills, concepts, and terminology as laid-out by the Head Varsity Coach of the VHS Wrestling Program.

• Attend all meets and practices

• Participate in high school program team activities and fundraising projects.

• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach with supervision of athletes at and after practice at VHS.

• Complete all required NFHS coaching classes before working with VHS athletes.

• Assist the Varsity Wrestling Coach with concession supervisions, attending coaches meetings, attending parent meetings and attending award events. 
 
Responsible To: The Head Wrestling Coach, Director of Athletics and Building Principal 
 
Stipend: As stated in the current Valparaiso Community Schools ECA portion of the Teaching Contract.
