TEMPORARY SUMMER POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Title: Summer Maintenance Help

Terms of Employment:
• $13.00 per hour
• 5-8 hours/day
• Approx. June – August (Days and hours may vary.)
Responsibilities: During the summer months, you may perform one or all of the listed tasks:
1. Window washing - Removing dirt and grime from windows and glass surfaces using a non-abrasive glass cleaning solution, water and microfiber cloth to clean around the edges.
2. Painting - Apply various finishes to buildings, rooms or other structures, exterior and interior. Prepares, cleans and tapes all surfaces. Clean area and equipment upon completion.
3. Grounds - Pick up and remove trash and debris from property and dispose of properly. Handle outdoor equipment as far as weed wackers, edge trimmers, leaf blowers and lawn mowers. Also includes raking, mulching and pulling weeds.

Job Goal:  To provide students and staff with a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean and efficient place in which to learn, play, develop and work.
 
Responsibilities:         
 
1.        Keep building and premises neat and clean at all times.
 
2.        Sweep classrooms and dust furniture.
 
3.        Clean corridors after school and at other times when their condition requires it.
 
4.         Scrub, hose down, and disinfect toilet floors, and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains.
 
5.         Reports major repairs needed promptly to the head custodian or building principal.
 
6.         Reports immediately to the head custodian/principal any damage to school property (inside or out).
 
7.         If appropriate, assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day.  Before leaving, confirm that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off. 
 
8.         Comply with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
 
9.          Must be able to work independently to complete assigned tasks.
 
10.        Must be able to bend, reach and lift 50 lbs.
 
11.        Sets up, tears down and cleans after lunch hours and special events, if applicable.
 
12.        Interacts appropriately with students and staff.

• Building Principal 
 
Terms of Employment: You are applying for a substitute position.  You will be called when a regular custodian is unable to work their regular shift.  Employment will be based on an as needed basis.

4. Performs all duties and maintains high standards of safety, cleanliness and efficiency: dusts and cleans classrooms and offices, washes walls and woodwork, washes windows, sweeps, mops, strips, scrubs, buffs, and waxes floors, shampoos and vacuums carpets, and washes and sanitizes bathroom fixtures, water bottle fillers and replenishes supplies.
5. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep, and repair of equipment used.
6. Reports immediately to the supervisor any damage to school property (inside or out).
7. Reports major repairs needed promptly to supervisor and fills out work orders for maintenance.
8. Complies with local laws and procedures for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
9. Oversees that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
10. Assists building administrators in working with special groups who use the building in the off hours and schedules custodian for events.
11. Must be able to work independently to complete assigned tasks.
12. Other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to bend, reach, walk and stand for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. due to moving heavy objects at times, such as, furniture or equipment
• Required to operate power equipment such as buffers and scrubbers
• May need to take precautions to avoid exposure to cleaning and stripping compounds and fumes
• Exposed to noise from power equipment
• Performing grounds maintenance may require periodically working outdoors in inclement weather
• Potential exposure to ordinary diseases carried by students
• May need to take precautions to avoid exposure to student bodily fluids
• May need to take precautions when inspecting cause of fire alarms
• May deal with distraught or difficult individuals.
