We are looking for a 12-month Payroll Processor.
This position is in the Secretarial bargaining unit and is a Class 4 position (starting rate of $26.75/hr.)
Salary and benefits are per contract.

SUMMARY/GOAL OF POSITION:
Under general supervision of the Payroll Supervisor, assist in the processing of bi-weekly payroll which includes a variety of payroll tasks.
ESSENTIAL TASKS OF THE POSITION: (Illustrative, not inclusive)
• Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely;
• Audit, review and resolves inconsistencies of payroll documents and contact appropriate personnel to review and correct discrepancies;
• Execute automated time and attendance processing and interface with payroll;
• Assist in preparing and verifying the payroll data to ensure accuracy of wages computed;
• Records changes affecting net wages, such as exemptions, insurance coverage, and other deductions for each employee to update master payroll records;
• Process and/or develop ad hoc payroll reporting as needed;
• Performs other tasks as related to the position as assigned by the Payroll Supervisor or Business Office Manager;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Strong organizational, decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills;
• Ability to concentrate on the accuracy of details;
• Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel;
• Working knowledge of automated financial software and time and attendance programs such as Alio and TimeCentre;
• Ability to cross train in all payroll functions as well as the ability to serve as a substitute for the Payroll Supervisor if needed;
• Ability to meet predetermined deadlines, and multi-task as priorities change;
• Ability to work flexible hours and shifts;
• Ability to apply customer service techniques to payroll situations;
• Ability to collect and analyze data and present results in clear, concise reports and summaries;
• Ability to apply established procedures to work activities;
• Ability to communicate with various levels of management as well as establish and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all staff members;
QUALIFICATIONS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
• High school graduate or other equivalent (i.e. GED. College, technical, or trade school transcript, foreign equivalency, etc.); and;
• Minimum of Three to Five (3-5) years’ payroll/bookkeeping experience
• Experience working with automated accounting systems and proficiency in Excel and Word
