JOB GOAL

The Director of Operations and Maintenance is responsible for utilizing the personnel and resources available to maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence, cleanliness and safety so that full educational use of them may be made at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Plans, directs, communicates and supervises the short and long term maintenance, custodial, energy management and grounds programs for the school district.
Directs/selects recruitment and employment of custodial, maintenance and grounds personnel (full and part-time).
Initiates and supervises in-service training programs for all custodial, maintenance and grounds employees.
Supervises, communicates with and evaluates custodial, maintenance and grounds employees.
Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program throughout the school district.
Assists in the development of the budget for maintenance, custodial and grounds services and recommends for purchase necessary equipment and supplies.
Assists with preparation of bid specifications and maintains inventory controls for custodial, maintenance and grounds supplies and equipment.
Creates an annual department budget, as well as long-term budgetary planning in collaboration with the Business Office for district wide capital project needs.
Serves as a member of the District’s Administrative team, supporting the management, development and implementation of the District-wide plans, policies and procedures.
Develops and maintains files for all buildings, including blueprints, plans, specifications, contracts, bids and other pertinent information relative to building construction, maintenance and operation.
Oversees building security measures through proper documentation and distribution of external keys, electronic access systems, and other technology-related internal and external security systems in partnership with the Technology Department.
Supervises and inspects work performed by outside contractors and verifies that the contract terms have been fulfilled.
Establishes safety standards and procedures to comply with federal, state and local regulations, including on-going safety-related training.
Attend School Board meetings as needed, to professionally address the Board regarding facilities, maintenance and operations activities for the District.
Actively participates in Facility Committee meetings through the Board of Directors.
Approves and submits payroll and other vouchers to the appropriate department for processing.
Enforces and follows policies, rules and procedures of the school district.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Superintendent.

JOB GOAL

The secondary principal coordinates, directs, supervises and plans with the professional and support staff in order to implement District policies and programs which ensure effective and efficient learning for all students in a positive school climate. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

RESPONSIBLE FOR:

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, directs, supervises and assesses activities that promote effective programs of study and student management that meet the needs of all students while striving for maximum achievement.
Oversees and coordinates professional and support service staff so that an effective team is established which works toward a unified goal of an effective program in a positive atmosphere within a safe, attractive, physical plant.
Develops a flexible schedule which enables students to meet core course requirements as well as pursue individual aspirations.
Coordinates extracurricular and interscholastic activities, including PIAA regulations that enhance the school program
Facilitates positive parent/school/community relations through a variety of activities and home/school communications.
Actively recruits, interviews, recommends and orients (induct) new professional and support service staff. An integral part of this function is continuous in-service to help enhance job performance
Develops an effective budget, based on District policies, that reflects not only the needs of students and staff, but also efficient inventory and ordering of materials.
Supervises observes and evaluates all professional and designated support service staff.
Determines appropriate areas of responsibility to be delegated to professional and support staff. Inherent in this is the need to maintain a continued, open line of communication that keeps the principal and staff informed and abreast of all matters
Collaborates with Assistant Principals on discipline issues.

SECONDARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communicates with parents/teachers who have individual requests and needs.

Performs clerical duties with specific instructions and established work methods. Specific tasks may include typing, copying, collating, distributing materials and operating instructional media, office machines, and equipment.
Assists students with use of instructional and/or assistive technology as directed by classroom teacher.
Participates in District in-service training programs, as assigned.
Obtains and maintains CPR, First Aid Certification, and Highly Qualified Status as defined by state and federal regulations.
Additional duties can occur depending on assignments given. Classroom assistants will be assigned to an area in special education each year (e.g., learning support, PCA, autism support, life skills support, etc.). See Classroom Assistant Handbook for more details.

Assists and supervises in transferring children to and from buses, special equipment, classrooms and events, ensuring student’s safety at all times.
Supports the behavioral and academic plan of the student including data collection needed for progress monitoring and reports concerns and finding to the certificated teacher.
Assists and supervises in the toilet training, toileting, diapering, dressing, cleaning, feeding and lifting of students as necessary.
Performs clerical duties with specific instructions and established work methods. Specific tasks may include typing, copying, collating, distributing materials and operating instructional media, office machines, and equipment.
Assists students with use of instructional and/or assistive technology as directed by classroom teacher.
Participates in District in-service training programs, as assigned.
Obtains and maintains CPR, First Aid Certification, and Highly Qualified Status as defined by state and federal regulations.
Additional duties can occur depending on assignments given. Classroom assistants will be assigned to an area in special education each year (e.g., learning support, PCA, autism support, life skills support, etc.). See Classroom Assistant Handbook for more details.
Regular and timely attendance.
Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the certificated teachers, Building Principal and Supervisors of Special Education.

JOB GOAL

To promote and protect the health and welfare of the students and staff within the Shippensburg Area School District as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the school health program.

Develops and coordinates with the Certified School Nurse the preparation of the school nursing budget.
Works in cooperation with other medical support personnel such as certified school nurse, school physician and the dental hygienist.
Plans with school administrative and maintenance personnel for the environmental and safety needs of students, especially adjustments necessary to meet the needs of handicapped students.

Delivers needed health services using systematic processes to assess needs, plan interventions and evaluate outcomes so the high-level wellness can be achieved.

Shall be responsible for provision of mandated school health services as required by the Pennsylvania Public School Code and shall maintain comprehensive health records on each student.
Shall be responsible for medication administration as prescribed by a physician, following the district medication policy and PA Nursing Standards of Practice.
Shall assist in the control of infectious, contagious and communicable diseases, update immunization records on all students.
Shall render first aid according to district policies and protocols and arrange for further treatment in cases requiring additional attention.
Assists with screenings and examinations as directed by the Certified School Nurse, school dentist and school physician.
Maintains confidentiality of health room information.
Performs all duties as assigned by Certified School Nurse.

Advocates the health rights of children and families both with the school setting and between school and community at large.

Shall be responsible for communicating the district health program to parents and seek permission for student participation when required.
Shall confer with parents concerning necessary follow-up and referral by interpreting the health needs of individual children to parents and assisting them in utilizing community resources.

Participates in health education and health counseling activities for students, school personnel and community.

Shall provide current information to school personnel on such subjects as the growth and development patterns of children, first aid practice, accident prevention, (PANA) Pennsylvania Advisory for Nutrition and Activity, nutrition, communicable disease regulations, etc.
Shall visit classrooms and consult with teachers in planning mutually agreeable classroom instruction utilizing the school nurse.
