QUALIFICATION: 1) All instructional paraprofessionals must at least possess the
NCLB Paraprofessional License. In lieu of this license,
possessing a Substitute Teacher or Teacher License is
acceptable. In order to qualify for the NCLB Paraprofessional
License, the applicant must possess:
- High School diploma or equivalent and
- 60 credit hours from an accredited college/university or
- Associates Degree or
- Passing score on the ETS Para-Pro Test or ACT
WorkKeys Test.
2) Satisfactory Physical performed by a licensed physician.
LICENSE: Valid Educator License with Stipulation (ELS)/Paraprofessional Approval
REPORTS TO: Teacher
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Under supervision of teacher, prepares for classroom activities.
2) Works with small groups of students to reinforce material
initially introduced by the teacher.
3) Performs clerical duties.
4) Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial
work set-up by the teacher.
5) Sets up audio-visual equipment.
6) Assists teacher with non-instructional classroom and
playground duties, such as snack, toilet and clothing
routines.
7) Checks notebooks, correct papers, and supervises
testing and make-up work.
8) Assists in drill work.
9) Assists with reading and storytelling.
10) Assists small groups of students in the library.
11) Participates in inservice training programs.
12) Provides for well organized, smoothly functioning class
environment under the direction of the teacher in which
students can take full advantage of the instructional program
and available resource materials.
13) Respects confidentiality of information pertaining to the school
and the students. All inquiries from parents regarding their
child’s progress shall be directed to the teacher.
14) Any/All other duties as assigned by the teacher and/or
administration.
