Supervises the custodial personnel. Provides direction and support, assigns tasks as needed, inspects for cleanliness and completion of assignments.
Meets and communicates with building Principal and/or Director as necessary to review work and scheduling of events to insure building preparedness.
Coordinates with the building Principal for school drills and completes tasks as required.
Responsible for coordinating all custodial set-ups and break-downs as needed for building activities, events and rentals, which includes the scheduling of required personnel.
Plans, supervises and participates in the project cleaning process during all school break project times. Submits all project plans and paperwork as required.
Performs routine cleaning operations in assigned scheduled area using established practices and procedures.
Cleans and sanitizes restrooms and/or locker rooms in assigned scheduled area using established practices and procedures.
Checks paper and soap dispensers and restocks as necessary.
Follows instructions regarding the use of chemicals and supplies.
Maintains the inventory of custodial and grounds supplies and orders supplies on a timely basis.
Performs routine grounds maintenance in assigned areas, including but not limited to, policing trash, mowing, trimming, weed eating and maintaining landscaping. During inclement weather, performs routine activities to insure safe access to building by checking and clearing sidewalks and entrances of snow and ice, applying ice melt as needed, etc.
Responsible for the removal of snow and/or ice from the campus sidewalks and entrances and reports as requested by Director.
Uses and maintains all equipment assigned to perform job duties, including but not limited to: hand tools, mops, squeegees, vacuums, auto scrubber, buffer, carpet extractor, burnisher, Kaivac, pressure washer, ladder, lift, string trimmer, mower, utility vehicle, etc.
Responsible for building security, including locking doors and windows, activating/deactivating the security alarm when needed and reporting any unauthorized occupants.
Performs minor maintenance tasks including, but not limited to, changing light bulbs and ceiling tiles, painting, patching, sanding and other minor repairs. Issues work tickets for other needed maintenance and security/safety issues.
Reports any vandalism or safety hazards to Principal and/or Director. Takes immediate action to insure safety to building occupants.
Responsible to check that the HVAC equipment is operational and to report any problems or issues using established procedures.
Performs project work as needed including, but not limited to, deep cleaning of furniture, fixtures and areas, moving of furniture, boxes and other items, scrubbing and stripping floors, laying floor finishes, minor maintenance, and grounds and landscaping work.
Receives all equipment and supply shipments to the building. Transports and delivers supplies as needed.
Provides assistance as needed to school faculty and staff by moving equipment, furniture and other items as requested by the Director or Building Administrator.
Performs related work as required or assigned.
Thorough knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used to perform custodial work effectively. Ability to keep accurate records and prepare accurate reports. Ability to send and receive email and to use the computer to complete necessary tasks. Ability and skill to perform minor repairs incidental to all related trades. Ability to plan and supervise the work of others. Ability to establish and maintain acceptable relations with faculty, staff and students. Ability to make small repairs and maintain the equipment used for custodial and grounds work. Skill in using the equipment and general tools necessary to make minor repairs to the building and equipment.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of communications devices and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, and repetitive motions. Ability to climb ladders and to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
Some exposure to hazards in the operation of motorized equipment; exposure to body fluids and excrement, pesticide, solvents, acids and alkalis. Some exposure to dirt, noise, dust and odors.
