Job Title: CCA Health & Safety Specialist- (Anywhere in ND)

Standard Office Hours: Twelve-month position, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and other times to reach agency goals or job duties.
Location: Remote option available in Central, Northern, or Western ND.
Salary: $60,000 - $64,000
Decision Making Authority: Responsible for best interests of the South East Education Cooperative (SEEC) given what has been budgeted and carefully utilizes funding to achieve expected goals. Approval required from the Director of Student Services (or assigned designee) on specific matters as outlined in policies and procedures.
Position Overview:
The Child Care health and Safety Specialist is a health professional with specialized knowledge and training to support programs in achieving and maintaining health and safety in early childhood settings. This position works with early childhood providers, center staff, and Best in Class classrooms.
Lead and move forward the statewide Child Care Aware initiative by providing leadership and guidance to CCA team members in the delivery and implementation of the Resource & Referral, Technical Assistance & Coaching, and Professional Development programs. Responsible for the management and oversight of the CCA team within their day-to-day operations including the delivery of services, stakeholder communication and satisfaction, and State contract compliance. Responsible to evaluate program ratings against appropriate sections of Standards 1-5 of the AdvancED Accreditation “self-review” standards. Implements cohesive actions to improve self-ratings.
Position Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Essential Functions

Position requires close collaboration with the Director of Student Services, Student Services Team, early childhood stakeholders, other Regional Education Associations, SEEC Employees along with Community and Funding Agencies.
Performance is equally a function of goal attainment; timely and accurate completion of assignments; building positive internal and external relationships; and planning, communicating and coordinating work to avoid last minute confusion and adherence legal/compliance guidelines and policies/procedures.
Significant Job Duties
80% Program Management
Provide individualize assistance to providers through technical assistance, training and modeling on licensing health and safety requirements.
Complete accreditation visits.
Work in tandem with ND child care licensing specialists to support child care providers in satisfying licensing compliance for high level correction orders or intent to revoke, help develop compliance plans and complete accreditation visits.
Complete with Best in Class grantees by providing training and recommendations to support early childhood services providers with preventing and managing injuries and infectious disease.
Recommend resources and trainings to providers in the areas of safe sleep, injury prevention, healthy practices and disease prevention, health emergencies and first aid.
Manage assigned program area(s) in a business-like and disciplined manner that includes administration and evaluation consistent with best practices and standards.
In conjunction with Director of Student Services, review past program trends, data and funding to provide input and/or write for future grant application(s) following agency procedures and policies.
Communicate the value, results and effectiveness of services provided to enhance continuous improvement.
Develop, implement and document specific programs and practices designed to build and sustain engaged clients and other stakeholders; these are efforts that go beyond the interactions required for development and delivery assistance.

In conjunction with the Director of Student Services, review the current programs and identify potential funding opportunities that align to the agency's strategic goals and support any matching fund requirements.
Participates in the strategic planning and implementation for the SEEC through attending meetings and planning sessions.

Build and extend own knowledge through a variety of professional development activities including but not limited to webinars, training classes, special certifications and by engaging in other professional development activities.

Interaction levels with others: Requires high levels of interaction with others internal and external to the agency.
Position requires travel within North Dakota to provider locations.
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines while maintaining professional demeanor.
Alternative schedules and overtime expectations are frequent.

Use of Phone/ Computer /Software / Office Equipment: Up to 8-10 hours a day for each activity individually or combined.
Climb / Pull / Lift: Up to 8-10 hours a day for each activity individually or combined. Move and lift up to 25 pounds.
Temperatures ranges for work environment: Mostly a typical office environment with temperatures of 60-85°F, but can experience temperatures from -40 °F to 110°F when performing tasks outside of office.
Noise: Noise levels reflect typical office environment and may require hearing protection when using certain equipment or entering certain areas.
Essential Skills, Experience and Expertise:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field and/or licensed registered nurse in ND (Health Related: nursing, public health, community health, maternal and child health) as verified in Growing Futures.
Currently holds ND Growing Futures RBPD Specialist endorsement and Growing Futures Health and Safety endorsement.

Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Requires excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills. Attention to Detail / Organization and Short/Long Range Planning: Excellent skills required.
Confidentiality: Requires proper protection, handling, storage and disposal of confidential and personally identifiable information (PII).
Math Skills: Adept at addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, fractions and basic descriptive statistics.
Financial Management and Analysis: Able to develop, track, analyze and explain budgets, expenses and variances.
Presentations / Speaking skills: Can develop and deliver effective small and large group presentations to a variety of clients and stakeholders.
Reading and Writing Skills: College Level: Requires analysis, synthesis and evaluation skills in a variety of areas per Bloom’s taxonomy.
Driver’s License: Required.
Use of software and office equipment: Ability to use smart phones and tablets, cloud based and internet apps, standard office equipment (copier, fax etc), computers, Office 365, other specialized software and the internet. Working knowledge of Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create and alter documentations, forms, presentations and graphs. Able to retrieve / store documents on computer (desktop/laptop), shared site or on cloud based service.
Special Position Requirements
Travel: Limited overnight travel with potential of 50% travel within North Dakota.
