    GENERAL DESCRIPTION             
    Substitutes can work in a variety of roles including:
    • Monitoring students on the school bus, at recess, or in the cafeteria
    • Assisting the school bus driver with students with special needs
    • Monitoring students in the before/after school Latchkey program
    • Assisting students and teachers in the classrooms
     
    HOURLY RATE
    $16.00/hour holding an Educational Aide Permit with the ESEA highly qualified endorsement on permit - effective 11/1/2024
    $13.00/hour holding a standard Educational Aide Permit - effective 11/1/2024

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                      
    High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Apply for and maintain an Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education (ODE). Individuals interested in applying for the ESEA endorsement on their peremit will need to meet one of the criteria (1) hold an Associate’s degree or higher, (2) have taken forty-eight semester hours of college coursework, or (3) take a Paraprofessional exam. The HR office is here to help answer any questions you may have about this process including applying for your permit or scheduling an exam.
     
    APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Individuals that are offered a position shall be required to submit to an FBI/BCI criminal background check.  Failure to satisfactorily pass the criminal background check based upon the discretion of the Board of Education will preclude an individual from employment with the Fairfield City School District.
