    Job Goal: The Summer Youth Musical Theater Director will lead the one month summer theater camp at Hamilton High School under the leadership of the Supervisor of Fine Arts 

     

     

     

    Reports to: Supervisor of Fine Arts 

     

     

     

    Essential Functions

     

    The summer youth theater director will: 

     

     

     
    1. Serve as a role model for students 

    2. Encourage and inspire all students to grow, develop and be successful 

    3. Lay the foundation for life-long skills of commitment, resilience, and responsibility 

    4. Establish procedures that address all safety concerns 

    5. Train team members in the areas of safety and care for each other 

    6. Explicitly teach and ensure professional standards for student performances 

    7. Embrace and teach the philosophy of working together and contributing to a purpose larger than oneself 

    8. Serve as the Artistic Director

    9. Select the musical for summer camp performance

    10. Lead all rehearsals (multiple times per week during production)  

    11. Coach actors 

    12. Produce show

    13. Create, build and oversee the budget

    14. Set ticket prices

    15. Select  performance dates and times

    16. Develop a marketing and advertising strategy for the production

    17. Assume responsibility for make-up design 

    18. Lead costume crew 

    19. Assume responsibility for light design 

    20. Secure and coordinate with sound engineer 

    21. Recruit students for productions 

    22. Communicate with students and parents 

     

     Qualifications Profile:  

     
    1. Background in the Performing Arts 

     
    1. High-quality oral and written communication skills 

     
    1. Strong organizational and planning skills 

     
    1. Open to new ideas and the ability to adapt to change 

     
    1. Awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity 

     
    1. Awareness of safety concerns and risk management 

     
    1. Pupil Activity Permit: requirements established by the HCSD Board of Education 

     

    Conduct: Each staff member shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district.

     

     

     

    Each staff member shall serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. Each staff member has a moral responsibility to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. 

     

     

     

    Terms of Employment: Per the Hamilton City Schools Board of Education/Hamilton Classroom Teachers Association Negotiated Agreement
