Job Goal: The Cutting Edge Director will lead the Cutting Edge Show Choir program for students in grades 7-9 at Wilson, Garfield, and HHS-FC under the leadership of the Supervisor of Fine Arts
Reports to: Supervisor of Fine Arts
Essential Functions
The Cutting Edge Director will:
Serve as a role model for students
Encourage and inspire all students to grow, develop and be successful
Lay the foundation for life-long skills of commitment, resilience, and responsibility
Establish procedures that address all safety concerns
Train team members in the areas of safety and care for each other
Explicitly teach and ensure professional standards for student performances
Embrace and teach the philosophy of working together and contributing to a purpose larger than oneself
Establishes rehearsal schedule (at least two times per week). Rehearsals are a minimum of 2.5 hours.
Serves as artistic director
Plans all trips for competitions and other performances
Arranges licensing
Coordinates with choreography staff
Assembles instrumental accompaniment (show choir band) and directs the band
Plans the competition show
Coordinates all performances
Develops and implements budgets
Assists with fundraising
Coordinates with parent group
Coordinates the entire performing ensemble(s)
Leads all performances
Qualifications Profile:
Background in the Performing Arts
High-quality oral and written communication skills
Strong organizational and planning skills
Open to new ideas and the ability to adapt to change
Awareness of, and appreciation for, individual uniqueness and diversity
Awareness of safety concerns and risk management
Pupil Activity Permit: requirements established by the HCSD Board of Education
